Bill Simcoe and Beth Williams form the ensemble Spiral Tango. Together we play Argentine tango music. We perform pieces from Carlos Gardel, Abel Fleury, Julian Aguirre, Marcus Vinicius, Roberto di Marino, Diego Collatti, José Luis Merlin, and other composers – and of course, Astor Piazzolla. We love the tango music of Argentina, and are captivated by the beautiful and moving melodies.
We live in Albany, NY, which is the state capitol, a 3-hour train ride from New York City (about 400 kilometers from NYC). We enjoy playing in churches, art galleries, coffee houses, and for tango dancers.
Bill has been playing the guitar for about 42 years, and we've been playing together for 4 years. In 2006, we recorded a CD entitled "Mis Suenos de Tango / My Dreams of Tango".
In May 2008, Spiral Tango performed a concert in Italy, hosted by the Classical Guitar Adacemy of Milan. We found Milan absolutely beautiful! What a wonderful trip, and a great experience!
